ABP, the Dutch pension fund for the local public sector, has announced a forthcoming €7.5m investment into fifty Dutch start-ups working on innovative solutions regarding energy transition. This investment will be carried out within the ABP Netherlands Energy Transition fund, the pension fund’s dedicated vehicle for energy transition financing. APG, which runs ABP’s asset management, will invest in the start-ups through the emerging start-up’s accelerator Rockstart.

“With this investment, ABP makes a direct contribution to the energy transition and the fund paves the way for other pension funds to become actively involved in the vibrant technological ecosystem in the Netherlands,” noted Constantijn van Oranje, envoy of TechLeap.nl, a non-governmental organisation aimed at quantifying and speeding up the Dutch tech ecosystem.
