Baillie Gifford opens Frankfurt office
Baillie Gifford has opened an office in Frankfurt as part of its growth plans in continental Europe. It is its first client office in the region.
David Gaschik, who had been appointed recently marketing director for Germany and Austria, is based at the new office in Frankfurt. Previously he worked at First State Investments where he led its German business for six years, and before that, he was at UBS Germany as head of wholesale distribution. David Gaschik will report to Gavin Scott who leads the eight-strong EMEA marketing and client servicing team from Baillie Gifford’s Edinburgh office. Additional salespeople willl be joining the DACH (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) team later this year.
"Frankfurt is just the start of this journey to extend the reach of our existing team in Edinburgh and explore opportunities across the region," said Andrew Teller, joint senior partner at Baillie Gifford.
The creation of a German base follows the opening of a Dublin office in March this year.
Currently Baillie Gifford has 35 clients in 12 European countries representing €10bn or about 5% of its total AUM (€224.8bn).
