Swiss stock exchange operator SIX, which has recently acquired Spanish peer Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME), is bringing its F10 tech incubation programme to Spain.

SIX has chosen to locate it in Madrid and Barcelona while operations will take place in Bilbao and Valencia. This latest move will strengthen the Spanish financial technology ecosystem by bringing new and innovative capabilities to Spain, said SIX in a release. F10 already supported a Spanish fintech startup BlackGull in its current incubation programme in Zurich. The incubation programme will launch in Spain in March 2021.

F10 provides banks and insurers with the opportunity to work with startups in FinTech, RegTech, InsurTech and DeepTech. Since 2016, over 100 global banking and insurance tech startups have completed the F10 Incubation Programme. 85% of them survived thereafter.

F10 co-founder Andreas Iten said: “We see great potential in the Spanish financial sector due to the recent growth in tech startup investment, an abundance of highly skilled game changers, and the innovation-oriented mindset of its established businesses. The progression of the Agenda España Digital and the increasing importance of digital business models in Spain offer ideal conditions for FinTech innovation.”
