Europe’s biggest IPO this year is Polish
Allegro, an online retailer, saw its shares soar by 61% on their first day of trading on Monday on the Warsaw stock exchange. This brought its market cap to PLN 71bn (€15.85bn), making it Europe’s largest IPO this year and Warsaw’s biggest stock.
Launched in the late 1990s to rival eBay, Allegro has become the benchmark e-commerce site in central Europe, with more than 20 million visitors each month.
It is still majority held by Cinven, Permira and Mid Europa.
