Spain is expecting to issue €100bn in debt throughout 2021 (vs. €110bn last year), Reuters reported on Friday, quoting Spanish treasury head Carlos San Basilio.

San Basilio said gross issuance may amount to €289bn in total, up from €277bn in 2020. Besides, the Spanish state has scheduled the launch of a green bond whose value will sit in the €5bn-€10bn range for the third quarter of 2021 and maturity of 20-25 years.

In December 2019, the then Spanish interim economy minister Nadia Calviño had announced during Madrid's COP25 that the country was ready to issue green bonds as from 2020 but the plans were delayed by the Covid-19 crisis.
