BlackRock sets continental Europe leadership amid Brexit context
US asset manager BlackRock has appointed Christian Hyldahl and Stéphane Lapiquonne as co-heads of continental Europe. The withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union has prompted the firm to establish a dedicated leadership for continental Europe.
Lapiquionne, who joined BlackRock in 2010, is based in Paris and currently leads the firm's business in France, Belgium and Luxembourg. BlackRock's head of Nordics Hyldahl, who joined last year, was previously CEO-CIO at Nordea Asset Management and ATP CEO.
Both will retain their respective roles in addition to their new functions and report to Rachel Lord, head of Europe, Middle East and Africa at BlackRock. They will also sit in the manager's European executive committee. They will ensure that market outlooks and best local practices are shared between countries.
Besides the pair will determine the strategy, priorities and goals for BlackRock in continental Europe.
BlackRock tallied over 2,000 employees in continental Europe spread across 15 offices. It has more than $1bn in assets under management in the region.
