BNP Paribas AM promotes new global stewardship head

Michael Herskovich, who was until recently the global head of corporate governance for BNP Paribas Asset Management, has been appointed as the global head of stewardship within its sustainability centre.

Based in Paris, Herskovich will report to Jane Ambachtsheer, BNPP AM’s global head of sustainability. This promotion comes after the exit of Helena Viñes Fiestas, who will be leaving the French asset manager after a decade, to take up a new role as a board member of the Spanish securities regulator, Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores (‘CNMV’) from 1 May.

An expert in the field of stewardship, Herskovich, who has been BNPP AM’s global head of corporate governance since 2009, was responsible for implementing its stewardship policy, including proxy voting, issuer engagement and corporate governance analysis. He has also played a key role in developing the asst manager’s global sustainability strategy, governance and voting policy, ESG ratings and SRI analysis. He has worked closely with portfolio managers on proxy voting and engagement, which he will continue in his new role.

At the winder industry level, he is also a board member of the International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN), chair of the Corporate Governance Committee of the French Association of Asset Managers (AFG) and chair of the International Corporate Governance Committee of the Council of Institutional Investors (CII).

In his new role, Herskovich will lead the French asset manager’s global stewardship team, which includes Adam Kanzer and Paul Milon, respectively head of stewardship Americas and head of stewardship Asia Pacific, together with Paris-based senior corporate governance analyst, Orsolya Gal.
