The UK's largest private pension scheme Universities Superannuation Scheme has named Lindsey Matthews as new chief risk officer. He will take up his new duties on 21 September, subject to regulatory approval.

Matthews, who most recently served as UK chief risk officer and global head of investment risk for UBS Asset Management, will assist the board in its oversight of risk in the pension scheme, the trustee organisation and its subsidiary, USS Investment Management. He succeeds Guy Coughlan, who will focus on delivery of the pension scheme valuation in his new role at USS.

Bill Galvin, USS Group CEO, said:“Risk management is at the core of our task as a pension trustee and investment manager, and Lindsey will be an excellent addition to the team as we navigate through these challenging times.”
