New bill gives UK additional powers in potentially hostile M&A

The National Security and Investment Bill will strengthen the UK’s ability to investigate and intervene in mergers, acquisitions and other deals that could threaten its national security.

According to the Bill, investors and businesses will have to inform the government about proposed deals in sensitive sectors such as defence and AI, communications, data infrastructure, energy and transport.
