Norwegian reg' piles pressure on banks, insurers to stop dividends pay

The Norwegian Financial Supervisory Authority (Finanstilsynet) has asked the Ministry of Finance to adopt regulations, which require banks and insurers not to pay dividends for 2019 until further notice.

In a letter to the Ministry of Finance, Finanstilsynet sought the retention of banks and insurance firms’ profits for 2019, citing uncertainty of Covid-19 impact on the Norwegian economy.
